Each link in a navigation can be shown to everyone or only to some visitors. Use this for links like Log in, Sign up, My account or an admin shortcut.
Every link has an Audience part with two choices: Everyone, or Only some visitors. When you restrict a link, you pick one or more groups, and the link shows when any of the selected groups matches the visitor.
The filtering happens on the server. A visitor who is not in the audience never receives the link at all.
An audience only decides whether a link is shown. It does not protect the page it points to. To keep a page private, set its access in Pages under Security.
Visitors who are not logged in
No user session. Good for Log in and Sign up links.
Logged in users
Any signed-in user, or only users holding certain tags.
Logged in admins
An admin session, whether or not a user is also logged in.
You can combine groups. For example, a Help link restricted to logged in users and logged in admins shows for both.
When Logged in users is selected, a Required User Tags (Optional) field appears beneath it. Leave it empty to show the link to every logged-in user.
If you pick more than one tag, choose Any of these tags or All of these tags.
Pair a tag with a subscription or a form. For example, a form can add a Customer tag, and a Customer area link can be shown only to users with that tag.
Most sites need a few links that change once someone signs in. You can keep them all in the same navigation.
1
Log in and Sign up
Restrict both to Visitors who are not logged in.
2
My account
Restrict it to Logged in users.
3
Admin shortcut
Restrict it to Logged in admins.
4
Save
Click Save Changes. Restricted links show an Only shown to some visitors badge in the editor.
The menu builder always shows every link, so you can see and edit links meant for other audiences. To check what a visitor sees, open your live site while logged out, then again while logged in.
Sections and elements on pages have a similar setting, Show this section to, for content beyond menu links.
