A navigation is a named list of links. Menus and footers show navigations, so you edit your links in one place and every header, drawer and footer that uses them updates.
Menus and footers are layouts. They decide where the logo sits and how things are spaced, but they hold no links of their own. The links live in a navigation.
To show a navigation, you place a Menu element in a menu, footer or page and pick the navigation it should display. One navigation can feed your desktop header, your mobile drawer and your footer at the same time.
Change a link once and it changes everywhere that navigation is shown.
Links can be nested up to three levels deep.
A navigation can hold up to 500 links in total.

Open Navigations
In your admin panel, go to Pages and Menus, then Navigations.

Add one
Click Add navigation.

Name it
Enter a Unique name. Use letters, numbers, spaces, dashes and underscores. This is the name you pick when you add a Menu element.

Describe it
Optionally add a Description, such as where the navigation is used. Other admins see it when picking a navigation.

Create
Click Create navigation. The link editor opens so you can add the first links.
You can rename a navigation or change its description later in its General configuration tab.
Click Add link, then select the link on the left to edit it on the right. Each link has a Content part, a Link part, a Submenu part, an Audience part and a Visibility part.
Label
The text visitors see. Required, up to 100 characters.
Description
A short line shown under the label in mega menus.
Icon
An optional icon shown next to the label.
Page
Links to one of your pages. The link follows the page, so changing the page's URL never breaks it.
URL
Links to an address: a path like /contact, an anchor like #pricing, or a full https://, mailto: or tel: link.
Heading
Does not link anywhere. Use it to group the links nested inside it.
Use the Page link type for your own pages rather than typing their path. If you later rename a page's URL, the menu keeps working.
Turn on Open in new tab when a link should open in a separate browser tab.
Drag a link by its handle to reorder it. Drop it on the middle of another link to nest it inside that link. The editor shows the level of each link, and stops you at three levels.
Each link also has a More actions menu with Move up, Move down, Nest inside the link above and Move out of its parent. Use Add a link inside to create a child link directly.
When you are done, click Save Changes. Until you save, the editor shows Unsaved changes, and nothing changes on your site.
If a link has a problem, such as a Page link with no page chosen or a URL link with no address, the editor counts it as something to fix before you save.
To take a link out of your menus without deleting it, turn on Hide this link in its Visibility part. The link and everything nested inside it stay saved, but are not shown anywhere.
A Page link to a page that is switched off is left out of your menus until the page is active again.
Deactivating a navigation from the Navigations table empties every Menu element that points at it. Visitors see no links there until you activate it again.
Link labels can be translated like other text on your site. Add a translation for the exact label text in each language.
