Inventory and scheduling

Tell customers what is in stock, stop orders for more than you have, and record when a product is available.

Stock settings

Open a product and go to its Inventory tab.

Track inventory

Keeps count of how many units you have.

Allow backorder

Marks the product as one customers may order while it is out of stock.

Quantity

How many units you have right now.

Low stock threshold

The level you consider low, for your own reference.

Stock status

In Stock, Low Stock, Out of Stock or On Backorder. This is what customers see.

Click Save configuration to keep your changes.

What customers see

The product page reacts to Stock status:

Out of Stock disables the add to cart button and shows an unavailable notice.

Low Stock shows a notice with the number of units left.

On Backorder shows a notice that the item can still be ordered.

How checkout uses stock

When Track inventory is on, checkout refuses a cart that asks for more units than the product's Quantity.

Quantity and Stock status do not change on their own after a sale or when stock crosses your threshold. Update them yourself as you sell and restock.

Allow backorder does not lift the quantity check at checkout. To keep selling a product you have run out of, turn Track inventory off.

Scheduling

The Scheduling tab has an availability window with two optional dates: Available from and Available to.

The Products element in the page builder has date filters for these same fields, so a section can show only products whose window matches.

The dates alone do not hide a product from the shop or stop it at checkout. When a product should come off sale, unpublish or deactivate it in the Products table.
