A product is anything you sell in your shop. Each one has its own price, images, stock, shipping details and search settings.
1
Open Products
In the sidebar, go to Shop, then Products.
2
Add it
Click Add Product and enter a Name, a Slug and a SKU. All three are required.
3
Fill in the details
Open the product with Edit to reach its tabs and complete the rest.
The slug becomes part of the product's address, so keep it short, lowercase and without spaces, for example blue-mug.
Each tab saves on its own with Save configuration, so save before moving to the next one.
Basic Info
Name, slug, SKU, a short description and the full description.
Pricing
Price, compare at price, cost and tax settings.
Inventory
Stock tracking and the stock status customers see.
Shipping
Whether the product ships, plus its weight and dimensions.
Organization
Vendor, product type, sort order and the Featured flag.
SEO
How the product appears in search results and when shared.
Media
The image gallery and the main image.
Scheduling
Optional start and end dates for when it is available.
Categories
The product's category and tags.
Price
What the customer pays.
Compare at price
An earlier or regular price. When it is higher than Price, the product page shows it next to the current price as a discount.
Cost
What the product costs you, for your own records.
The Taxes section lets you mark a product as Taxable and store a Tax code. The checkout total does not add tax at the moment, so include any tax in the price if you need to charge it.
On the Media tab, click Add Images to open your media library. Upload new pictures or pick ones you already have.
Set as Main picks the image used as the product's main picture.
Reorder changes the order of the gallery.
Remove takes an image off this product. The file stays in your media library.
The Products table has two separate switches for every product: Publish or Unpublish, and Activate or Deactivate.
Customers only see and buy products that are both published and active. Checkout also refuses a product that is unpublished or inactive, even if it is already in someone's cart.
Keep a new product unpublished while you add its images and descriptions, then publish it when it is ready.
The SEO tab controls how a product appears on search engines and social networks: meta title, meta description and keywords, Open Graph title, description and image, the Twitter card, a canonical URL, the robots setting and schema markup.
If you leave the SEO titles and descriptions empty, the product page falls back to the product name and short description.
